2009

  1. December 2009: The JSSC Special Issue for ISSCC 2009, published in Dec. 2009, includes Vipul's paper entitled: "A Single-Chip Dual-Band 22-29-GHz/77-81-GHz BiCMOS Transceiver for Automotive Radars." Congratulations to Vipul, Fred Tzeng, and Lei Zhou.
  2. August 2009: The JSSC Special Issue for CICC 2008, published in August 2009, includes Vipul's paper entitled: "A BiCMOS Dual-Band Millimeter-Wave Frequency Synthesizer for Automotive Radars." Congratulations to Vipul and Babak Javid.
  3. July 2009: Vipul Jain successfully passed his Ph.D. Defense exam. Congratulations Dr. Jain.
  4. May 2009: The JSSC Special Issue for RFIC Symposium 2008, published in May 2009, includes Fred Tzeng's paper entitled: "A CMOS Code-Modulated Path-Sharing Multi-Antenna Receiver Front-End.". Congratulations to Fred, Amin Jahanian, and Deyi Pi. 
  5. April 2009: The Journal Paper entitled "A 22-29GHz UWB Pulse-Radar Receiver Front-End in 0.18μm CMOS,"  was accepted for the Aug. 2009 issue of IEEE Trans. on Microwave Theory and Techniques. Congratullations to Vipul and Sriramkumar.
  6. April 2009: NCLC Lab Members Fred Tzeng and Vipul Jain were part of the team that won the First Prize Award for the 2009 Business Plan Competition at UC-Irvine.

 

2008

  1. The ISSCC 2009 paper was featured in "Highlights of ISSCC 2009."

  2. Nov. 2008: The ISSCC paper entitled: "A Single-Chip Dual-Band 22-29GHz / 77-81GHz BiCMOS Transceiver for Automotive Radars," was accepted for publication. Congratulations to Vipul, Fred, and Lei.
  3. June 2008: Fred Tzeng and Amin Jahanian won the Low-Power Design Contest Award at the 2008 IEEE ISLPED Conference.
  4. June 2008: The RFIC 2008 paper, with Fred Tzeng as the first author, on "A CMOS Code-Modulated Path-Sharing Multi-Antenna Receiver Front-End for Spatial Multiplexing, Spatial Diversity and Beamforming," was nominated for Best Student Paper Award.
  5. June 2008: Student members of the NCIC Lab will be doing summer internship at high-tech companies including Qualcomm, Fujitsu Labs of America, IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, and Finisar.  
  6. June 2008: Vipul Jain's and Babak Javid's paper on a Silicon-Based MMW Frequency Synthesizer was accepted for oral presentation and publication to the 2008 CICC Conference.
  7. April 2008: Vipul Kumar received his M.S. degree and graduated from the NCIC Lab. He is currently a Design Engineer at Qualcomm Corporation.  

 

2007

  1. Dec. 2007: Deyi Pi finished his M.S. degree and graduated from the NCIC Lab. He is currently a Design Engineer at Broadcom Corporation.

  2. Nov. 2007: Fred and Amin's paper on "A CMOS Multi-Band Inductor Re-Use Low Noise Amplifier," was accepted to IEEE TCAS-II Special Issue on on Multifunctional Circuits and Systems for Future Generation of Wireless Communications.

  3. Sept. 2007: Fred Tzeng received the prestigious Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) Fellowship.

  4. August 2007: The JSSC paper entitled: "Design and Analysis of a Performance-Optimized CMOS UWB Distributed LNA," was ranked among top 100 IEEE journals in October 2007. See announcement.
  5. August 2007: The JSSC paper entitled: "CMOS Distributed Active Power Combiners and Splitters for Multi-Antenna UWB Beamforming Transceivers" was ranked among top 100 IEEE journals in July and August 2007. See announcement.

  6. June 20, 2007: Student members of the NCIC Lab will be doing summer internship at several high-tech companies including Qualcomm, Fujitsu Labs of America, Broadcom, Maxim Semiconductor.

  7. June 15, 2007: Deyi Pi will present a paper and be given an Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)/CICC student scholarship award to attend and participate in the upcoming Custom Integrated Circuits Conference (CICC) 2007 September 16-19 in San Jose, Calif.

  8. June 1, 2007: The student members of NCIC Lab will present three papers to CICC 2007.

  9. April 1, 2007: Fred Tzeng received the Department of EECS Teaching Award.

 

2006

  1. Dec. 5, 2006: Deyi Pi Passed his qualifying exam.

  2. Nov. 15, 2006: Aminghasem Safarian passed his Ph.D. Defense exam.

  3. July 7, 2006: The TCAS-I paper titled: "Analysis of the PLL Jitter Due to Power/Ground and Substrate Noise" was ranked 2nd in the 2005 top downloaded journal papers published in all the previous issues of IEEE TCAS-I. See http://tcas1.polito.it/editor/top-25-TCAS1.htm

  4. June 22, 2006: Student members of Broadband IC Lab will be doing summer internship at seven high-tech companies including Intel, Fujitsu Labs of America, Broadcom, Atheros Communication, Mindspeed Technologies, Philips Semiconductor, and General Electric  

  5. June 20, 2006: Vipul Jain Successfully passed his qualifying exam.

  6. June 14, 2006: Lei Zhou successfully passed his qualifying exam.

  7. June 11, 2006: A one-hour tutorial on the Design of Performance-Optimized Distributed RFICs for UWB Radio was presented in the 2006 IEEE MTT-S.

  8. June 1, 2006: A pending U.S. patent on Distributed Delay-Locked-Based Clock and Data recovery Systems was successfully issued.

 

2005

  1. Sept. 12, 2006: Amir Safarian successfully passed his qualifying exam.
