HP Labs
So I have recently moved to HP Labs, this is an investigation institution within HP, focused at mid and long term research. Unlike product divisions, HP Labs research projects are not expected to become products on the short term, so this gives the researchers greater freedom, and more time.
I am part of the Advanced Architectures Lab; some of the people at the lab are quite remarkable, we have the fathers of VLIW, or some of the developers of X windows, the guys that writes the C++ GC.
The first noticeable change in my day to day work, is that I've moved to Linux (Ubuntu) ;)....but not quite, I run it within a VMWare virtual machine.
