DocEng 2005. Just came back from HP Labs Bristol, where DocEng 2005 took place. Besides meeting with soem of teh coworkers at HP Labs which is always interesting, some of the presented papers were also very interesting.

XSL-FO - there were several intesrting presentations on XSL-FO proposals, on of them for arbitrary text shapes frpo HP

XSLT - Optimization. Also a couple of good presentations of methods for the optimization os XSLT

Adobe - there key note was about what Adobe thinks the future of documents (PDF?) is going to be like. Presentation/Model/Control should be different entities on the document. They hinted joining the forces of PDF and Flash, for producing rich content web applications

DDF - HP Labs prsented a great work on DDF or Dynamic Document Framework - really cool stuff - it is clearly inteded for varibale data printing solutions and can leverage content from XSL-FO Posted by Picasa
